I am a 35yo married and father of twins. I will update the photos once in a while. They were born 3 months early in March of 2008 and went through a tough first 4 months. They are now doing well.

I had 200k before the drop in 2008. I need to set aside around 200k in next 2.5 years to get early retirement.

[ ] pay off 1st mortgage by 2026
[ ] finance next car for 3 years or less
[ ] pay cash for my next car around 2016
[ ] start a TIPs 10 year bond ladder by 2016.

Need picture ideas

My wife and I want to take pictures of our sons before they grow out of their incubators with objects which show relative size.

Wedding rings were suggested already by hospital- those pics will be taken tommorrow.

A friend gave us two build a bears which are each bigger than each of our sons, but the issue with the bears is
a) they cannot be put in incubator (not sanitary) and no one really knows how big a teddy bear is (you could buy a teddy bigger than me and I'm 6'1" 170#.

I was thinking maybe a coffee mug or similar. Any other ideas?

A Dollar bill.

No, I'm serious (hmm... though not sure whether they'll allow that for sanitary reasons). A clean-wiped ruler is probably ideal, but a Dollar bill would be more fitting, don't you think?

I have some lysol in my car, and a dollar bill on my skin while holding my son on my skin makes sense

maybe a cc or two as well.

I've seen people take pictures of preemies compared to pens...

The most remarkable photos of preemies, I believe, are the ones of babies being held in a parent's hands.

My daughter was a preemie 4 lb (now 8 years old!). When she was home the first month or two I took a quick shot with a teddy bear (she was smaller). A couple years later my out-of-town mom visited and saw the bear on a shelf remarking "That's the one in the picture!".

Oh my gosh, I took that bear off the shelf in a heartbeat and put it right in my daughter's keepsake box. Now the actual bear is saved and she'll never believe how little she was.

(BTW I'm from Cleveland but have lived in CA as long as there now)

My daughter is a photographer...she recommended also taking a photo of their little hands holding one of your fingers..and a picture of their feet...I would keep whatever you use in the photo and have the photo and the item framed...

Okay this is probably too practical, how about a 12 inch ruler, plastic and sterilized of course!
