Supplmenting Income

February 27th, 2007 at 07:39 am

Curious how many sources of income people out there have?

I work my day job, which pays the bills. I train soccer teams at night which nets ~9k a year. This goes to vacations, savings and other frivoulous spending. My wife also works a day job.

How do others supplement their income?

freelance work, moonlighting, myself. & when my husband works that is even better. In the last few years out of work he has brought in some money though on the side - he is working hard on upstarting a particular business now so he doesn't have to go back 9-5 when the kids are older. It's evolved through the years and he has brought in a little money the last few years.

Selling items on ebay and Craigslist also helps. We used to donate a lot more, but on one income it has really helped to sell a lot of things instead.

Oh yes, I also sell for a MLM company.

Well, I consider my income "suppplemental". We have lived off my husband's salary(which is not very big, BTW) since we got married almost 18 years ago. I just went back to work in August, but we don't incorperate my salary into our budget. We still live off of his and mine is used for extra's like savings and paying off debt until we are completely debt free(within the next year). DH always picks up extra work when he can too. He's also very good at buying something cheap and selling it for a profit.

I do some IC work, but not much, as thats how I got into the tax mess and have been paying ever since. I'm mostly an employee now, but this year my w2s added up and I still had to pay in.
